Bude RFC

85 - 10

(HT 38-3)

Newquay Hornets RFC
Newquay Hornets travelled up the north coast to Bude with a somewhat depleted squad. However, they started the game well, with the forwards matching third in the table Bude in the loose and the tight. Bude we’re having the lions share of possession, but when hornets did get the ball, prop turned Centre for the day Jack Morrison made some strong inroads, whilst the back row worked tirelessly in attack and defence. Newquay were unlucky when Joe Burch was given a yellow card for an infringement at a ruck. Budes fast wingers were able to make the most of the extra man. Hornets were dealt a further blow when fly half and captain Aaron Simmonds was forced from the field with what was later confirmed as a broken arm. This forced Adam Rainey to step in to fly half. A second yellow card forced more reshuffling with Ed Charalambou stepping from hooker to wing.

In the second half Bude had their tails up and were able to score fairly frequently, but that is not to say that the Hornets lads ever gave up. The heart and effort they showed was rewarded with a converted try for Jordan Scotland, following an excellent passage where the team were able to keep hold of and recycle possession.
